"How to avoid falling into the trap of poverty? Good afternoon on Saturday. (20231014)

Meet Pak, a farmer from Indonesia, who struggles to have enough food on his plate every day.
His body is extremely weak, unable to work, and he can't earn money.
When a sociologist visited Pak's home, they were surprised to find out that Pak wasn't actually poor.
In his home, Pak had not only a television, DVD player, and a mobile phone but also tea, coffee, and sugar.
The sociologist couldn't understand: why spend on these unnecessary items instead of filling your stomach first?
Pak replied, 'I have to find some joy in my life.'
In the slums, Pak's example is common. The sociologist saw many thin and pale-faced poor people crowding inside video stores to buy movie DVDs and TV series DVDs.
So he said to everyone: it's far more important to earn money after having a good meal than indulging in consumerism.
But no matter how much he advised, as soon as poor people had a little money, they went shopping.

We always try our best to make money,
but can't control our desires for pleasure,
lack the discipline to delay gratification,
and end up falling back into the trap of poverty.

This terrifying cycle of consumption
is all too common in life.
We'd rather spend money on lavish meals,
than learn money-making skills;
we'd rather splurge during discounts,
than get a gym membership.

In the world of installment discounts and promotions,
we blindly consume over and over again.
We forget the most crucial place to spend money,
which is enhancing our own ability to earn.

Spend where it truly matters,
save every penny where it shouldn't be spent.
Learn to invest money wisely,
and you won't be swallowed by poverty's grip."
